Former Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) party secretary Wu Yingjie has been formally charged with bribery, according to China's Xinhua News Agency. Wu, under investigation since June 2024 and arrested in December, is accused of abusing his positions in TAR to secure benefits for others in exchange for large bribes. Prosecutors filed the case in Beijing’s third intermediate court. Wu, who served in TAR from 1974 to 2021, was previously sanctioned by the U.S. and Canada for human rights abuses. His trial follows a broader crackdown on corruption in China.
