Wu Yingjie, former Party chief of Tibet Autonomous Region, pleaded guilty to accepting over 343 million yuan ($47.37 million) in bribes from 2006 to 2021, reports China Daily. Prosecutors said Wu abused senior positions in Tibet to benefit others in business and project contracts. His trial took place in Beijing on Mar 20, attended by lawmakers and political advisers. Wu, who promoted strict policies in Tibet during his leadership from 2016 to 2021, was later transferred to national roles. A verdict will be announced later, and China’s anti-corruption bodies have condemned his actions.
