China Expands Patriotic Education in Tibetan Schools

China is intensifying patriotic education in Tibet by showing propaganda films about heroic Chinese soldiers and holding storytelling contests praising the Communist Party, according to sources and state media reports. Schools are also urging students to reject “superstitious” beliefs, targeting Tibetan Buddhism. The campaign promotes “ethnic unity” and instills the “red gene” in Tibetan children. Teachers must emphasize China’s socialist system and loyalty to President Xi Jinping. Harsh V. Pant of the Observer Research Foundation told Radio Free Asia that this effort seeks to indoctrinate Tibetan youth and assimilate them into Han Chinese culture.
