Arunachal MLA Warns of China’s Dam Project, Urges Government Action

Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Ering raised alarms over a massive dam China is building on the Yarlung Tsangpo River, near the international border. During a state assembly session, Ering warned that the 60,000 megawatt dam could divert the river, affecting the Siang River's flow in Arunachal Pradesh and potentially causing severe water shortages and devastating floods downstream. He emphasized the lack of a water treaty between India and China and urged the government to prioritize national security. Ering also called for local community consultations on hydropower projects to protect their interests.
