The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) discovered 108 kg of gold bars smuggled from seven countries, including the US, Canada, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai, into Tibet, then intended for India. Five suspects were arrested, including a couple from Leh, Tender Tashi and Tashi Dolma, who recruited Tenzin Samphel. Samphel hired couriers Tenzin Targy and Tsering Chamba. The smuggling ring's leader is still at large. The ITBP intercepted the smugglers with gold, mobile phones, and other items near the India-China border in eastern Ladakh. This incident suggests smugglers are using new routes along the India-China border.
