China has stated it is open to talks with the Dalai Lama if he recognizes Tibet and Taiwan as parts of China. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the exiled Tibetan leader must abandon any position supporting Tibet’s independence. According to StratNewsGlobal, the Tibetan parliament-in-exile rejected these conditions, with Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang stating that the Dalai Lama “will not tell lies” and calling China’s demand a distortion of history. She expressed hope that he would one day return to Tibet, saying efforts from within China could make his visit to the Potala Palace possible.
