A significant four-day Tibet Advocacy initiative recently drew to a close in Tamil Nadu. The advocacy began with a significant event on the 16th of August at IIT Madras, a leading institution in India. An interactive session on Tibet was held for the students, hosted by Tibetscapes, an independent research collective at the institute. Dr. Sonika Gupta, a respected figure in Chinese Studies and Global Politics at IIT Madras, played a crucial role in welcoming the visiting parliamentarians.

Throughout the session, topics ranging from contemporary Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan democratic framework, the support extended by the Indian government to exiled Tibetans, and the alarming situation within Tibet were discussed. A future collaboration was also on the cards as the Tibetan representatives engaged in a discussion with Professor Jyotirmaya Tripathy, Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT, on upcoming events to keep the story of Tibet alive in the academic realm.
