Tibet House Japan has begun its annual three-month Tibetan language course on August 6, 2023. The course, scheduled for Saturdays, will take place at the organization’s office located in Nishiochiai, Shinjukuku, as reported by Tibet.net.

Representative Dr. Arya Tsewang Gyalpo extended a warm welcome to the students attending both in-person and online. He expressed gratitude towards the students’ interest in Tibetan language and culture.

Dr. Gyalpo emphasized that the course will cover more than just the Tibetan language – it will also provide insight into Tibetan spiritual culture and civilization. He further reassured that Tibet House is committed to fulfilling the students’ aspirations and expectations.

The language classes will be two hours long, with an hour each dedicated to conversation and reading-writing sessions. The curriculum also includes meditation and invocation of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of wisdom.

The course attracts a diverse group of students, including Japanese, Mongol, and Chinese individuals. Some students are returning from previous classes, finding the course instills a nostalgic feeling, spiritual rejuvenation, and a sense of self-connection.

Tashi Yangzom and Tselha from Tibet House will conduct the classes, set to run until the end of October, alongside Representative Dr. Gyalpo.
