In an inspiring initiative, the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has conducted a comprehensive Guidance and Counselling tour in various schools, as reported by Tibet.net. This tour, led by Counsellors Jamyang Wangyal and Tenzin Choedhen, spanned from 5th to 22nd November 2023 and covered several schools including STS Herbertpur, STS Mussoorie, THF Mussoorie, and others.

The primary goal of this tour was to motivate and guide students from classes VIII to XII, helping them set meaningful life goals. The counsellors, through their sessions, focused on essential life skills. Topics like building self-esteem, enhancing communication skills, nurturing a positive attitude, and mastering the art of teamwork were at the forefront of their discussions.

However, these sessions were not limited to theoretical knowledge. They evolved into interactive forums, encouraging group discussions and presentations among students. This practical approach was crucial in developing their skills in communication, collaboration, and public speaking, as highlighted by Tibet.net.

A significant aspect of the tour was the counsellors’ efforts to raise awareness about Child Sexual Abuse. They educated foster parents, teachers, and staff on the intricacies of this sensitive issue, along with protective measures as per the POCSO Act 2012. This initiative is crucial in creating a safe and informed environment in educational institutions.

Parental involvement was another key focus of the tour. Counsellor sessions at STS Herbertpur and TNMF School aimed at strengthening the partnership between parents and schools. This collaboration is vital for fostering an environment that supports a child’s all-around development.

The impact of this educational tour was profound. Students not only enjoyed the sessions but also experienced significant personal growth. Their feedback underscored the effectiveness of the practical, interactive approach adopted by the counsellors. Moreover, the increased awareness about Child Sexual Abuse is a crucial step towards ensuring a safer educational environment.

This tour by the Department of Education, CTA, as reported by Tibet.net, highlights the importance of holistic education that goes beyond academics to include life skills and awareness about critical social issues. The success of this initiative underscores the potential of such educational tours in shaping the future of young minds.
