In a significant gesture of solidarity and cultural exchange, Shri Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, recently completed a three-day visit to the Tibetan settlement in Mundgod, as reported by Tibet.net, the official website of the Central Tibetan Administration. This visit, marked by a series of meaningful engagements, highlights the deepening ties between the Indian state and the Tibetan community in exile.

Upon his arrival on November 14, CM Khandu was warmly received by a delegation of Tibetan representatives, including the revered Lhagyal Rinpoche, Rikya Rinpoche, CRO Jigme Tsultrim, and settlement officer Lhakpa Dolma. The following day, he attended the enthronement ceremony of the 10th Lhagyal Rinpoche at Gaden Jangtse Monastery, an event that drew hundreds of devotees from regions like Ladakh and Tawang, as well as the Tibetan community.

During his visit, as Tibet.net details, CM Khandu engaged in a meeting with representatives from approximately 26 local Tibetan associations. The representatives expressed their gratitude for CM Khandu’s ongoing support. In a significant move, the Chief Minister pledged a donation of 30 Lakhs for the construction of a community hall in Camp 10 of the settlement.

He emphasized the importance of preserving Buddhism and strengthening the harmonious relationship between the Monpas and Tibetans, acknowledging the substantial presence of monks from Arunachal Pradesh in Tibetan monastic institutions.

CM Khandu‘s visit also included a meeting with the Abbott of Gaden Shartse Monastery, Khen Rinpoche Geshi Jangchup Sangey la, where he expressed his deep connection with the serenity and peace of the monastery. He interacted with the students there, noting the significant number of students from Arunachal Pradesh and recognizing them as beacons of hope for the future of Himalayan Buddhism.

In a heartfelt tribute, CM Khandu honored Tibetan soldiers who served in the Indian Army, acknowledging their sacrifices in defending India’s territory. He met with members of the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association in Mundgod, ensuring their courage and sacrifice will always be remembered.

The visit concluded with a meeting with His Eminence, the 13th Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche, where CM Khandu received blessings and guidance.
